Oleksandr Lutskevych opened CEX.IO in London in 2013. It started close to the bitcoin ATM and brokerage world and became a spot exchange with a card on the side. From 2013 to 2016 its mining-pool subsidiary, GHash.io, was large enough that in 2014 it briefly held more than half of bitcoin’s computing power.
